El FSB 2017, está ya montado, solo queda montar la última rueda.
Voy a por el neumático, una llanta negro mate le hacen destacar de los demás que hay en el taller. En esto no puedo equivocarme.
Me dispongo a montarla, pero me detengo al ver los frenos y pienso un momento. Las pinzas llevan demasiado tiempo sin utilizarse, es posible que haya cristalización en ellas. Convendría lijarlas. Comienzo a soltar la pinza de freno con cuidado de no rayar la mangueta con la llave. Extraigo las pastillas de las pinzas y las lijo con cuidado. De manera constante y uniforme, necesitamos que haya la mayor superficie posible de ellas en contacto con el disco.
Introduzco las pastillas en la pinza y la anclo de nuevo a la mangueta, para que se mantenga fija, y sea el disco de freno junto con el neumático lo que gire.
Entonces observo el disco de freno y veo que no está a la altura del resto del monoplaza, algo falla. Cojo el limpia frenos y comienzo a aplicarlo en el disco deslizando un papel por encima. Ahora sí, el disco muestra el brillo característico del metal. Me quedo unos segundos mirándolo. Cuesta creer que en unas horas vaya a estar a más de 100 grados.
Por fin, llega el momento que estaba esperando, introduzco con cuidado de no tocar la rosca del buje la llanta en los correspondientes tetones. Rosco la monotuerca hasta que aprisiona la llanta contra el buje. El color rojo de la pieza combina con el negro de la llanta dando un aspecto magnifico a la rueda. Aprieto con una dinamométrica la monotuerca para asegurar que no se suelte. Ya puedo verla girar a 1200 revoluciones por minuto.
Parece que ya está todo listo. Abro la tapa del coche sobre la pedalera, deslizo mis dedos por la rueda que acabo de montar y la hago girar. Acciono el pedal de freno con la mano y la rueda se detiene al instante. Listo para rodar. Pido ayuda a mis compañeros y retirando los caballetes el FSB 2017 toca el suelo por primera vez. Pero no será la última.

The FSB 2017 is ready, the only thing left is to assemble the last wheel.
I go and get the tire, the black matt rim makes it stand out from the rest of wheels that are in the garage. In this I cannot be wrong.
I´m about to assemble it, when I stop when seeing the brakes and think that the brake calipers haven’t been used for a long time, it is possible that the brake pads might have crystallize. It might be a good idea to sand them. I star by dismantling the brake calipers carefully not to scrape the up-right. I take the brake pads and sand it carefully. I a constant and uniform way so there is the most surface contact possible between the brake pads and the brake disc.
I introduce the brake pads in the calipers and I attached it to the upright, for it to be fix, so that the brake along with the tire rotates.
When seeing the brake disc I realized that the brake disc wasn’t up to the rest of the car, something was going wrong. I decided to get the brake cleaner and I started cleaning the disc with a tissue. Now yes, the disc has it´s characteristic metallic color that it should. I stay I few second having a look at it. It is hard to believe that in a few hours it will be a temperature above 100 degrees.
I had been waiting for this moment the whole year, I introduce the wheel carefully not to touch the hub´s thread. I get the dynamometer key and I tighten the center lock nut so that it doesn´t get loose. I can now see it spin at 1200 revolutions per minute.
It looks like everything is ready. I now of the lid on top of the pedal box, afterwards I get near the wheel and I make it spin and I touch the brake pedal and the wheel instantly stops. Ready to go.
I ask for help to one of the members of the team, we removed the trestle and the FSB 2027 touched the floor for first time, but it won´t be the last.
